My Journey

I started my journey into health many years ago when mine was at an all time low. I was experiencing menopausal symptoms, joint pain, low energy, and chronic stress. As my overall health and wellbeing suffered, each doctor I saw informed me that this is what aging felt like and offered me prescription after prescription to mask my symptoms, without ever addressing the underlying causes of my concerns. This made me angry! I was about to enter into what was supposed to be the best part of my life where I had finally earned the freedom and flexibility to enjoy it and I refused to have it taken from me by feeling miserable or being tied to doctors and medications. I wanted to cure myself, not cover it up.

From that day I threw myself into finding ways to heal myself naturally. I decided I did not want to take any unnecessary medications. As I began researching alternatives to conventional medicine I discovered a wealth of information on foods, environmental sources and sound research on how stress and my lifestyle were effecting my health. I was inspired! I immediately started taking baby steps. As I began to put these new found methods into place in my own life, each day I began to feel better and better!

My sleep was improved, my stress levels began to decline and my energy soared. My joint pain and stiffness was eliminated. I was feeling better and my brain was clearer than it had been in such a long time.

My life is now a complete 180 from where I first began all those years ago. After turning my health around so dramatically I decided that I couldn’t stop there. I wanted to continue down this path and help others too. I received formal training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition , where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique and individual goals, lifestyle and preferences.

I can help you find the healthiest alternative for almost all of your favorite foods by simply swapping out a few ingredients.

Meal planning and recipe makeovers are an excellent way to make sure you have the healthiest options available. Resorting to fast food or grabbing whatever is handy will derail you faster than anything because when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a health coach?

A certified wellness professional who provides support, guidance, motivation and education meant to inspire and motivate individuals into making lifestyle and behavior adjustments that are beneficial to their health.

How will you provide accountability and support?

It’s important to have a support network, your coach will be one of many in that network; friends, family, co-workers, etc. will make up the rest. Your health coach will provide mentor support via phone or Skype weekly or twice monthly where you will talk about your achievements, challenges and setting achievable goals. Check-ins and questions between talks will be via text or email.

I’m on medication, will you work with my doctor?

It’s important to let your doctor know you will be embarking on a plan to improve your health through nutrition. Your coach will work in collaboration with your medical doctor to ensure the recommendations will not interfere with medications. Health coaches are not qualified to prescribe medication nor to terminate the use of a medication. While the purpose of lifestyle and nutrition changes are to improve health they often result in the reduction or elimination of medications (only upon your doctor’s advice) as the body works to heal itself.

How much time will coaching take?

There are several program options available. You may choose a 30-day meal plan or a one-on-one coaching program which could be 3 month, 6 month or 1 year; each session lasts under an hour and will occur on a weekly or bi-monthly schedule. The changes you incorporate into your life will be ongoing and something to focus on each and every day.

Will I be hungry?

Everyone is different, you may or may not feel hungry. This will also depend on how much you were eating at each meal before your program. It’s important to understand it’s OK to feel hungry, this will not harm you in any way and your body will adapt. If you are feeling hungry between meals and feel you cannot make it until the next meal your coach will help you to find healthy snacks to hold you over.

How long will I have to change my eating habits?

Nourishing your healthy life is a permanent lifestyle, not a temporary diet. The tools and behaviors you use and learn through coaching are what you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Coaching allows you to change your perspective regarding food and the choices you make in order to achieve and maintain optimum health.
